E360 Launches Permission Verification Services (PVS™) For Legitimate Email Marketers

The First Industry Solution That Addresses The Root Cause Of Consumer Complaints In Email Marketing

Wheeling, IL — June 21, 2007 — e360Insight (e360) announced today the launch of Permission Verification Services (PVS™), a database certification solution for legitimate, permission-based email marketers.

(PVS™) is a data auditing service designed to measure and improve the permission level of email marketing databases enabling legitimate marketers to reduce complaint levels, increase delivery rates and focus on their most profitable customers. Unlike other certification methods, e360’s PVS™ is the only solution that directly addresses the primary question in permission email marketing - Did the email recipient sign up to receive these messages?

In order to be PVS™ Certified, the marketer must submit a copy of their entire active email database, including all permission source data including the website where registration occurred, the date and ip address. Upon receipt of the marketers email database, e360 executes a series of data hygiene and permission scoring processes designed to verify permission quality and to identify problematic email records. PVS™ Certification scores every record in the marketer's database based on data quality and statistical comparisons with e360's multi-channel reference file of over 100 million consumer records. Some of the scores include a Permission Level PVS™ Score, Email Address Uniqueness Score, Known Bounce Score, Partner Domain Score, Email Responsiveness Score, Suspected Trap Score and Postal-quality Score. Based on the scores, e360 makes actionable recommendations to fix data quality issues. Recommendations may include removing the record from future mailings, reaffirming permission by sending a notification message or terminating a problematic marketing partner. ()

One of the big problems for legitimate marketers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) is an overall lack of transparency in the permission processes employed to obtain consent from the message recipient. Anti-spam vigilantes take advantage of this fact by submitting complaints to ISPs and third-party reputation services, claiming email lists they have opted into are spam. The result is adverse action against the legitimate marketer and lost revenue for the ISP who are both faced with the impossible task of responding to general complaints without due process or the ability to review the evidence. PVS™ Certification solves this problem by providing independent, third-party verification that proper consent was obtained from the email recipient.

"Being called a 'spammer' in today's environment is as akin to McCarthyism," according to David Linhardt, President and CEO of e360Insight. "You don't have to have any evidence to back up your claim. You just need to make the claim, and watch the company go out of business. Anti-spam vigilantes get their kicks from doing this every day. It is our position that email transmissions are simply too important for consumers and the health of the U.S. economy to tolerate this unreasonable behavior. We believe PVS™ is part of the solution for legitimate marketers and ISPs who want to encourage best practices and not punish those who are following the rules."
